In the aftermath of Messiah Complex, the issues that have been slowly building within X-Factor Investigations come to a head. Siryn is pregnant due to her tryst with Madrox, Wolfsbane is leaving the team both to get a new start, and to escape a horrible vision of the future shown to her by Mr. Trypp. Jamie's going stir-crazy, desperate to find a way to save Layla from Bishop's nightmarish future. But the team's problems aren't the only ones. Mutant town is starting to fracture, as former mutants who can now pass for baseline humans since M-Day are leaving the neighborhood.
