Ghost Rider is beaten, broken and too weak to continue in his current state. He quickly changes back to Dan then collapses. Dan awakens two days later in the hospital to find none other than Johnny Blaze, the man who's been trying to kill him, at his bed side. It seems Johnny has had a change of heart and decides to help Dan, to guide him on his path as the Ghost Rider. Dan and Johnny discover a mysterious church that has been closed for years but is suddenly housing a strange conflagration one that Dan's mother is somehow a part of. The Hobgoblin attacks to purge the unworthy with Spider-Man in pursuit close behind. Ghost Rider takes the fight to Hobgoblin, remembering their previous battle (see Spider-Man #6). Hobgoblin escapes however, with Ghost Rider hot on his trail.
